The theme for Set Free Christian Fellowship during 2011 is “Encounter God.” Using a theme verse of Proverbs 29:18 the pastoral leadership of the fellowship believes that when people don’t have a personal encounter or relationship with God they eventually give up on the Christian life. Solomon told us that without “vision” and/or “revelation” that people “perish” or “cast off restraint.” A quick study of people in scripture confirms that most had a very dramatic encounter with God at one point or another in their faith walk.
The Holy Spirit is the source behind encounters and Jesus told us plainly that we can each receive the Holy Spirit by asking. “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks the door will be opened…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 9:9,10,13
We are all seeking and asking for a fresh encounter with God this year that will change us from the inside out. The world needs to see believers who have been touched by God.
Encounters come when we take time to spend with God, seek Him and listen to His Spirit in our lives
